Maths T3W6 Fraction

I was playing a game of matching fractions with decimals and percentages.  I had to match 125/100 and a picture that showed 125/100 This game was easy for me  because over the past three days I have been practicing my fractions, decimals and percentages. Next , I would like to learn equivalent fractions.

My speech on composting

Benefits of Composting
In my opinion I think there are a variety of advantages to composting.
So today I will be talking about 5 advantages of composting

1st reason
Compost reduces greenhouse gases.
When organic materials go into landfills and  the organic materials don’t decay it will produce a
greenhouse gas methane. If there’s a large amount of methane gas in the atmosphere then that
is known for global warming.

2 reason
Compost improves soil quality
As we all know composting helps regenerate poor soil as it’s encouraging the production
beneficial micro-organisms (which is mainly fungi/bacteria). As then it will break down in
organic matter to create humu.
Humus help to retain moisture, as it naturally increase nutrient content in soil.

3rd reason
Compost helps clean up contaminated soil
Composting has been shown to absorb odors and treat (VOC volatile - organic - compounds,
Like explosives, heating fuels, preservatives  pesticides and both chlorinated and
non- chlorinated
hydrocarbons in contaminated soil were removed from the compost process.

reason
Compost helps control erosion
Compost is shown to prevent erosion on embankments (hill) that are side by side
from creeks, rivers and lakes. As well as turf loss on roadsides, hillside,
playing fields and golf courses.

5th reason
Compost makes and saves money
These days composting reduces the amount of water consumed by plants. As you may know or
not know composting can reduce plant disease and pests. Minimizing the need for chemical
expensive fertilizers As a higher yield  in crops growing in composted soil.

Hansel & Gretel (Ninja chicks)

This week we revisited writing a summary and taking notes. My teacher read this story to us and we had to write a summary using the ‘W’ words.

Here is my summary:
Once upon a time  two siblings were trying to stop a fox from birdnapping chickens. They had come back from there dojo as they were learning ninjutsu and saw that there papa was gone. There were dented footprints in the ground so they followed the footprints in the forest, Hansel and Gretel placed bread crumbs down so they wouldn’t get lost. Hansel and Gretel got  to the fox’s house. Grettel got invited in but then he was locked up,Hansel saved the day by overpowering the fox, and saved his family from becoming dinner.

Reflection:

I think I have a good understanding of writing a summary but  need a little more practice.

Technique 3D collage

We went to Te Tuhi art gallery. We got there and we had a art teacher named Salome she had taken us to Studio 2 to do 3D collage art.We  had to tape 3 cards with a gap in between so it could fold. Then we cut different pictures out of magazines to put on our 3D card art. The art we had done was amazing when it was finished.

Pak N Save

One day room 8 went to Paknsave to meet up with a lovely lady Adele from the heart foundation. She was teaching us how to become healthy instead of becoming obese. Adele had giving us a variety of  different columns with different foods. We had finished in Paknsave and went back to school to learn again.
