Narrative Writing

My dad worked in the Military ever since I was four . My dad only came home every six or even ten months
so whenever something came up for fathers day I wouldn’t be able to give it to him because he would never be
around. I was mocked and shamed on for my dad not being around.

I’m Ashely and i’m now fifthteen so that makes my dad being in the military for twelve  years. I’m still mocked to
this day for my dad not being around, but I remember what my dad told me before he left he said “ stay strong for
me” so that’s what did for twelve years.

Last night marked the thirteenth year of him being away, I called my friend because I was sad he wasn’t around.
We were on the call for hours that we both ended up going to sleep at 1am, I had the most memorable dream ever it
so memorable that I felt real.

The dream I had was about my father coming home after five years of not visiting, it felt so real from that dream
I remember me running up to him and hugging him for 30 minutes I didn’t wanna wake up from the dream I had.
But all good things come to an end, I got woken up for my mum because I was gonna be late for school… I told
her everything and she replied with “I know you miss him sweetie but he will be gone for another two months,
but after school I have a surprise for you”. I said ok mum i’ll be going now.

When I got to school I told my friend everything but I ended getting into detention for talking in class,
I walked to detention and I saw everyone running around panicking like something was happening.
I panicked but I calmed down slowly because I heard someone shout “STOP PANICKING for the love of god ”.
After I calmed down all I feel going around my eyes was a pitch black blindfold and all of a sudden
I started being dragged around. I hear nothing but silence but then all of a sudden the blindfold comes off and
it’s itch black someone said “cue the lights”, all I see is a man in a military suite and my mum next to him.
My mum said “I guess the surprise came early”

I screamed and ran up to my dad then I said “I...m-missed y-y-you so much don’t e-ever leave me again”,
He said “I won’t”. I was so happy that he was back that I asked him to come to school with me so I could
spend time with him. My dream finally came true and that’s all the matter’s.
